The right ingredients

The song ‘That’s whats up’ covered by Lennon & Maisy Stella has gone viral on facebook and I find it absolutely amazing ( Intrigued by this song I searched for more on youbute and I stumbled upon this song…

It left me staring at my screen with a big smile and goosebumps.
The song is written & produced for a TV commercial in Swisterland for the Swiss organic food label “Coop Naturaplan” in 2014. As a nature minded person, the lyrics spoke to me straight away, but it’s wasn’t just that.

This song and these girls as the artists seem to have all the right ingredients!
I googled them for more information and I found that they are sisters – which instantly made me love the video double as much 🙂 – coming from a very musical family (their parents are musically known as ‘the Stellas’). They are known for their roles in an ABC musical drama series on television, called ‘Nashville’. In the series they play two sisters, Maddie and Daphne Conrad, the daughters of a successful singer.

So far they have already reached the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot Country Song chart in April 2013, with their cover of “Ho Hey” from The Lumineers. The song was recorded in the first season of Nashville.
In the same year, the sisters where asked to perform on the Pinnacle Award at the CMA awards and besides that, the song on which my whole ‘study the sisters adventure’ is based on, rose to #1 position on the Swiss Itunes chart and became the second most downloaded song in Switzerland for three weeks in a row! Wow! Considering that they are 15 and 12 years old, I think this is an incredible achievement.

The vocals of both of them are very pure and they create an incredible harmony together. It’s seems almost impossible for such a young girl (Maisy) to be able to sing such beautiful harmonies and it shows not only how talented she is, but also how much she can rely on her sister – who always has her back and is just as talented. Listening to only one of them (no matter who), would not be the same as listening to both of them together.

Their communication on stage and on screen is amazing! I love the idea of two sisters being so talented and loving each other so much that they can work and create together. I am deeply impressed and inspired by their music, their stage presence (so playful and reaching), their purity and their love.
I hope you can appreciate them as much as I do! Enjoy 🙂
